1. Basic Information about BSCIS
- All the students are registered as BC high school students as well as Japanese Bunsugi students.
- Students can engage in a Canadian curriculum in addition to the Japanese curriculum.
- Students can experience Canadian/Western-based education even though they are in Japan.
- Upon successful completion of both programs, students will be granted a BC High School Diploma with their Japanese High School Diploma
- Students should have proficiency in both English and Japanese to be successful. It is recommended to have EIKEN pre-level 2 English and high school level Japanese.
2. About BC Curriculum
- All the classes of BSCIS are taught in English.
- Competency-based education fosters a deeper learning that can not be developed by test-based education or cramming.
- All BSCIS teachers are British Columbia certified.
- Focusing on critical and creative thinking.
- Incorporating a wide range of teaching strategies and learning experiences.
- learning activities such as creative writing, research skills, problem-solving skills, group work, oral presentation, etc.
- Annual Inspection by BC MOE ensures the quality of BC education.
- Consistently excellent Educational Programs in the world (PISA).
3. The BC Dogwood Diploma
- The BC graduation program is a 3-year program leading to the award of the Dogwood Diploma. The Dogwood Diploma is recognized by universities throughout the world. Universities in the West evaluate the students based on their Grade 12 course marks.
