ASSESSMENT POLICY AND PRACTICES

At BSCIS, assessment is integral to learning and occurs at multiple levels: course-based (e.g., rubrics), school-based (e.g., tests), and provincial (e.g., Literacy/Numeracy Assessments). Our educators collaboratively analyze these results not just to evaluate learning, but to actively refine instruction and planning. Insights are shared across the curriculum during regular team discussions focused on student progress. We empower students by sharing results to guide their self-assessment and goal-setting, and partner with parents by providing information to support their child's academic journey. Reflecting our commitment to the Double Diploma system, relevant information about student progress is also shared with Japanese homeroom teachers to ensure holistic student support. This ongoing dialogue is complemented by formal reporting three times a year, two interim reports, and student-led conferences.
