Application Process
Entrance exams are offered at several times at year, usually starting in October and going until February. Please contact the school for specific dates and times.
If you are moving to Tokyo and want to attend BSCIS immediately then please contact us and we will set up a testing time that works for you. There is an entrance exam for the Japanese side of the school and a separate one for BSCIS.
Grade 10 Entry Exam (applies to grades 8/9 as well)
There is a sample exam below. The exam covers Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, Written Composition and an Oral Communication component.
Grade 7 Entry Exam
If you plan on entering grade 7 at BSCIS you must complete an entrance exam. The purpose of the exam is to both assess your level of English and to also try to determine if you will thrive in this system. The exam has a short ( 1 paragraph of 5-8 sentences) section and an interview. The interview may also involve listening to a reading. t is intended for about 20 minutes.The following are sample prompts or questions for the writing section:
What is your favourite thing about living in Tokyo?
What is your favourite season and why?
What is one thing you would like to change about school?
What are you most looking forward to next year?
